Wisconsin Heights Battlefield Mounds
(Black Hawk Hollow Group)

The site of the battle between the Indians led by the Sauk Chief Black Sparrow Hawk and the United States state militia, it' s the
only intact battlefield of this kind in the country. There are 5 linear mounds on this site. The location is strange – not on the highest
hill in the area and not facing any body of water. Mounds seem to be mostly in good shape, although one extends onto private
property, one has shrubbery growing on its end, and couple of them have little damage. Most trees were removed recently from the
body of the mounds, but it'll take a while for the stumps to rot away. Some trees are still on the mounds. There is an arrow on the
trail pointing toward the group.
