Observatory Hill Mounds
(Observatory Hill Group)
National Register of Historic Places

This group, consisting of a bird and a turtle, is in pretty good shape (not considering damage done during construction decades ago)
and is well maintained. Decorative fence prevents casual walking over the mounds. The lack of vegetation on top of the mounds
indicates that they get mowed over on occasion, but not as often as the area around the effigies. Linear mound and a panther were
located down the slope from existing mounds but were destroyed in the early years of University construction.
