Lake Kegonsa State Park Mounds
(Williams Group)

Two groupings of mounds are marked along the White Oak Trail in the park. The mounds are being overtaken by vegetation, and
if it wasn't for the signs, one would be unable to find them. Too bad, since just couple of years ago there was work in progress to
remove the brush and clean up the mounds. Apparently that effort has been abandoned.

There is some confusion as far as the name of the group goes. It seems most (if not all) mounds are linear and represent “North
Williams Group” and “Williams Group North #1”, as described by William MacLachlan. He also mentioned “Williams Group North #2”
and “Williams South Groups #1 & #2” on the territory presently falling within park’s boundaries.
